  • arrowGENERAL MANAGER, CLIPPER CARGO – SEATTLE OR VICTORIA, BC

    Job Summary:

    The General Manager of Cargo will define the cargo business strategic goals, own the P&L, establish key relationships, identify business opportunities, negotiate and close business deals and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions. This position will manage existing relationships and customers to ensure business growth and opportunity.

    Key Responsibilities:

    The primary responsibilities of the General Manager of Cargo include, but not limited to:

      Business Planning:

    • Own and drive the business revenue and profitability.
    • Establish strategic goals including financial model to establish and grow the cargo business at Clipper.
    • Create the Clipper Cargo business plan incorporating knowledge of the market and competitors, sales targets and growth, pipeline of new business, creation of the solutions/services the company can provide, identification and development of Clipper Cargo unique selling propositions and differentiators, and opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to increased sales.
      • Account Management:

      • Build, maintain and leverage business and professional networks to grow the Clipper Cargo business, including relationships with local and regional government representatives.
      • Plan persuasive approaches and opportunities that will convince potential customers to do business with Clipper Cargo.
      • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with Clipper operations.
      • Handle potential business issues by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through to a positive conclusion.
      • Grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new solutions, services and support to advance the Cargo business.
      • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications and participating in professional organizations.

      Qualifications and Education:

      • Minimum of 10 years of sales, operations or marketing experience preferably in logistics and transportation.
      • Ownership of P&L in related business.
      • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
      • MBA is preferred.

      Other Skills and Qualifications:

      • Strategic planning, networking, persuasion, strong written and verbal communication, prospecting and closing business deals, identification of customer needs and challenges, market knowledge, and Microsoft Office.

Your primary job will be to help our customers build custom, all-inclusive vacation packages for destinations in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia, Canada. Come to work on the beautiful Seattle Central Waterfront every day; the view is great!

    **Reservations agents must be able to visit Victoria, Canada; this means you will need a Passport, Passport Card, or Enhanced ID/Driver’s License. We are also unable to hire applicants that have had prior DUI/DWI or Felony convictions as they may be unable to travel to Canada.

    Applicants will also need to be comfortable standing and sitting for long periods of time, fluent in English, and able to safely lift and carry 50 lbs. We can only hire employees who are US citizens or legally allowed to work in the US.

    We are seeking a Sales Manager who will focus on group sales of Clipper product offerings and packages. Ensures consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning, deployment and management of key accounts and new business. Identifies objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short- and long-term sales and earnings. It is a full-time, permanent position and offers medical, dental and other benefits after 3 calendar months. Salary DOE.

    Summary of Key Responsibilities (not limited to the following):

    • Source and grow group business through action plan preparation and execution
    • Build, maintain and leverage professional network to grow group sales revenue
    • Updating company forms/signage
    • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts and integrating contract requirements across all necessary Clipper Navigation operations
    • Maintain and nourish relationships with existing customers. Grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new solutions, services and support to grow sales revenue
    • Use necessary resources to secure new corporate and SMERF accounts
    • Use consultative sales techniques to develop customized travel itineraries to meet client’s specific needs
    • Represent company at industry trade events, shows, receptions, training
    • Ensure professional and prompt follow-up and response to customer inquiries
    • Ensure achievement of quarterly and annual sales goals
    • Maintain accounts, contacts, sales activity with appropriate software
    • Maintain up to date knowledge of all of Clipper Vacations’ offerings
    • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and participating in professional organizations

    Qualifications and Required Skills:

    • Minimum of 3 years previous sales experience required
    • Excellent sales and closing techniques, including networking, prospecting, persuasion and negotiation skills
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal direct supervision
    • Some travel may be required
    • Familiar with MS Office & CRM Tools such as ACT! or Sales Force
    • 4 year degree, preferably in related field

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute business strategies and HR programs that increase employee involvement, commitment and competencies and which are consistent with organizational strategic plan, mission, goals and objectives.
    • Drive change management, including systems and processes leading to better operational performance and preparing leaders and employees to lead and manage change throughout the organization.
    • Diagnose work environment issues and consult with leaders on solutions that drive high employee engagement and retention.
    • Create talent management and leadership development strategy including identification of key talent, assessment of individual development needs and creation of individual development plans.

    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

    Qualifications and Skills Required:

    • At least 10 years business experience in Human Resources.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively influence, persuade and coach senior leaders.
    • High degree of integrity and discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.
    • Solid commitment to customer or employee service.
    • Pragmatic problem-solving skills.

    • Data entry.

    Requirements Include:

    The Café Clerk is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and food and beverage quality while ensuring that safe food handling practices are adhered to.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Demonstrates prompt and friendly customer service
    • Maintains a positive work environment
    • Prepares espresso, coffee and related beverages
    • Operates point of sales system and handles cash and credit card payments
    • Ensures consistency and quality of café products
    • Prepares sandwiches to order
    • Assists in maintaining all equipment in safe working condition
    • Assists with inventory and with unloading and stocking of café supplies
    • Strict adherence to all safety and health regulations
    • Answers phones and takes special orders
    • Assists Café Supervisor as required

    • General housekeeping; cleans and sanitizes work area (including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.) as well as dining room
    • Other related duties as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • High school diploma or equivalent and experience working in coffee bar, restaurant, or related field; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
    • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude are essential to interact with customers and employees
    • Reliable and dependable; ability to follow direction
    • Good communication skills; outgoing and friendly demeanor
    • Ability to perform repetitious activities
    • Valid King County Food Handler’s Permit

    Physical Requirements

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Able to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends
    • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time; occasional walking; climbing a step stool
    • Repetitive arm and hand movements; manual dexterity to wrap, package and stock product up to 30 lbs
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently; push and pull up to 100 lbs
    • Must have good vision, for this position requires working with sharp knives, slicer, box cutter and related equipment; will need to determine spoiled or damaged product

    This job has specific physical requirements that may require you to lift up to 50 lbs, to operate machinery with moving mechanical parts, bend, reach, kneel, squat, stand of a long period of time, or push/pull heavy loads. Qualified candidates will be contacted.
