Position Overview

Your primary job will involve high interaction with passengers, food service and tour sales, and being an all-around great host to our guests onboard the boat. Key Responsibilities:

  • A genuine desire to provide exceptional customer service while creating amazing memories for our guests
  • Sell Clipper products while underway: food, beverage, sightseeing tours, gift shop and duty free

  • Luggage handling
  • Vessel cleaning and maintenance

Key Requirements:   

  • Must possess a US Passport; or a Passport with ability to exit/enter the USA and Canada
  • No DUI/DWI, negligent driving, or felony convictions (this will disqualify your entry into Canada)
  • Must pass a required Pre-Employment Drug Screen (including cannabis) and pass random USCG drug screens – paid for by FRS Clipper
  • Complete a USCG Basic Safety Training course – paid for by FRS Clipper
  • Complete a USCG Medical Fitness exam – paid for by FRS Clipper

The Head of Operations leads our vessel related customer operations with a focus on optimizing the face-to-face guest experience for all our guests. The position is key in achieving our goal to be the best host. We are looking for somebody to join our management team with experience in leading a customer service team, constantly improving customer service, and organizing a department in the most effective way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns the overall success and direction of the operations department in Seattle and on Seattle based vessels.
  • Owns the development, execution, and monitoring of the department’s strategy, plans, programs as well as short term and long-term goals, with a focus on safety and guest experience.
  • Owns the development of a high performing crew that demonstrates best in class guest service on a daily basis, including recruiting, hiring, mentoring, training and coaching the team.
  • Owns cooperation, relationships, and communication with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Owns the department’s operational and financial performance, including monitoring and reporting.
  • Owns the compliance with applicable regulations, governance, and efficient structure of the department’s organization, including policies, procedures, and programs. This includes administration of the Drug and Alcohol program as mandated by the US Coast Guard.
  • Represents the organization to third parties in department related matters, including vendors, suppliers, and other business partners as well as government agencies, regulatory bodies, and similar functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

FRS Clipper is a growing transportation service and tour operator, providing fast premium ferry travel between downtown Seattle, WA and Victoria BC—recently named the World’s Best Small City by Condé Nast Traveller readers. The Product and Marketing coordinator works closely with FRS Clipper’s product and marketing leaders to inspire our guests to book overnight trips and find the perfect activities for their getaway to Victoria BC or Seattle. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to deal with ambiguous situations, and a passion for creating excellent travel experiences. This individual will report directly to the Product & Account Manager while playing an overlapping support role for product related marketing tasks.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (not limited to the following):

  • Supports product leadership in our contracting process with current partners and to expand our list of partners in the travel industry.
  • Supports daily account management and associated tasks related to all FRS Clipper product partnerships across hotel, tour and transportation partners encompassing daily communication and problem solving as well as product contracting and optimization.
  • Works closely with internal Reservations and Onboard Agent teams to resolve product issues in a quick and efficient manner as the partner liaison as directed by the Product Manager.
  • Supports management of room inventory and rates across hotel partners, rates, stop sell verification and product updates for all partners.
  • Develops expertise on Clipper’s destinations and supports internal and partner product training programs, ensuring Reservations and onboard agents are up to date on all products and activities sold by the company and partners are kept abreast of latest FRS Clipper product offerings.
  • Assists in executing marketing opportunities, including social campaigns, pricing promotions, and site content that highlights FRS Clipper’s hotel and tour partners and inspires travel aboard the Clipper V.
  • Develops expertise on Clipper’s destinations and assists with training events for new team members. As needed, represents FRS Clipper at product tradeshows and travel industry events.
  • Works closely with our tech team to ensure that partner listings on our site are both compelling and accurate. As needed, works to resolve errors/inaccuracies in listings and ensures updates are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates partnership collaborations such as giveaways and exclusive discounts for Clipper guests as directed by Marketing team.
  • Provides updates to partners on how they are featured in Clipper marketing campaigns.
  • Distributes print collateral and other marketing assets to industry partners as needed.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • 1-3 years of professional experience in related roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and solve problems independently.
