Summary:

We are looking for an ambitious, diligent and energetic person who wants the opportunity to work in our accounting department.  This role requires someone who is self-motivated, detailed oriented and who is comfortable with some ambiguity and change.  The candidate should be someone who enjoys working with international partners and is looking for an opportunity to be challenged and grow.

 

The successful candidate will have a solid accounting background (no less than three years) in a multi entity, multi-currency environment required. Experience within travel/hospitality industry will serve this individual well, but is not required. The candidate will have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA or progress towards the CPA designation is preferred. This is a broad-ranging accounting role, will be demanding, and will afford the right candidate the opportunity to participate in all aspects of accounting function within a growing and dynamic company, making substantial growth in their career along the way.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Solid US GAAP knowledge and strong technical accounting skills required
  • Participate in monthly and year-end close activities and account reconciliations
  • Ability to create and write journal entries including prepaid and accruals
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and accumulated depreciation schedules
  • Work with Accounting Manager on ad-hoc project work as needed
  • Proficiency with SAP
  • Cash management including posting petty cash transactions, daily sales deposits, reconcile bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Above all, deliver consistently high quality and timely reporting
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

 

 

The ideal person for this position is confident and self-directed, yet responsive to shifting priorities and able to answer/research questions from management and resolve issues in an accurate and timely manner.

Education Required:

  • BS in Accounting
  • CPA or in progress towards CPA designation preferred

David Gudgel, Chief Executive Officer

David joined Clipper in April of 2014 as the VP of Business Development, was promoted to COO in January of 2015 and then promoted to co-CEO in May of 2017. David has been involved in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska travel industry for more than 27 years.  He began his career working for Holland America Line as a tour bus driver in Juneau, Alaska as a summer job during college.

David stayed with Holland America Line in several different capacities for over 15 years, spending the last 6 of those as the General Manager for Gray Line of Seattle and Horizon Coach Lines.  It was during this period that he first began working with Clipper as a partner in providing Northwest Getaways and in providing emergency services. David is a graduate of Gonzaga University and earned a B.S. in Business Administration.
