SEATTLE (September 26, 2022) –  FRS Clipper today welcomed Canada’s decision to lift COVID-19 restrictions, including the compulsory use of ArriveCAN beginning October 1, 2022. To further facilitate travel between Seattle and Victoria on the Victoria Clipper fast ferry, FRS Clipper will reduce their current health and security fee by 70% this week, returning back to pre-pandemic levels of $2 USD per passenger, per trip.

“It comes as great news that the COVID-19 restrictions are officially removed,” said Matthias Pahnke, CEO of FRS Clipper. “They have been a significant barrier to international travel between Seattle and Victoria. Additional staff was required to provide support with ArriveCAN, impacting our guest travel experience and slowing our path to business recovery. This decision by the Canadian government will help to get us back on our feet.”

“The removal of restrictions also allows us to make travel financially easier in these challenging times with the reduction of our health and security fee,” noted Pahnke. “We hope this allows more members of our loyal communities on both sides of the border to further re-connect and enjoy quick and easy getaways between Seattle and Victoria.”

Guests traveling with FRS Clipper will still have the option to wear masks and are encouraged to monitor their own health to be sure they feel well before taking a trip.
