Mt. St. Helens & the Ecosystem

Visit one of the Northwest’s most ‘powerful’ attractions

From your downtown Seattle hotel, travel to Mt St. Helens National Volcanic Monument via adventure-outfitted luxury Mercedes or Jeep on a day-long getaway. Along the route, your guide and naturalist will make stops showcasing the impressive recovery of the ecosystem in the areas surrounding the site of the 1980 eruption.

Five miles from the crater at Johnston Ridge Observatory, you will arrive in the blast-zone. From the Observatory you will have stunning views into the steaming volcano. Your naturalist will share the magic of the geological events surrounding the 1980 eruption through a variety of stories, facts and walks. Experience how volcanoes are monitored and discover how Mount St. Helens has taught us new answers to old mysteries through the Center's state-of-the-art interpretive displays. You will take short walk on the Eruption Trail where you will see views of the lava dome, crater, pumice plain, and the landslide deposit. On the return, you will experience the Hummocks Trail, the largest landslide in recorded human history.

The Mt. St. Helens & the Ecosystem tour includes hotel pick up and drop off, highly qualified naturalist guide, travel in adventure-outfitted luxury Mercedes or Jeep, a Northwest “On Safari” lunch, scrumptious morning and afternoon tea, selected Washington wine, refreshments, all entry fees and comprehensive naturalist commentary.
