New Year’s in Seattle – December 31-January 1

Undoubtedly the most-watched fireworks show in the area, the NYE pyrotechnics transform the Space Needle into a super-sized sparkler. Claim a spot along South Lake Union to take in the spectacle or opt for tickets to Spectra 2018 and watch the show from under the Pacific Science Center arches, along with local DJs and an open bar.

If that doesn’t sound like quite enough festivity (you party animal, you), the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) is throwing a New Year’s Eve bash aptly called Indulgence. With more than 20 bars (yep, you read that right), four unique party atmospheres and three areas of live entertainment, there’s bound to be something enticing for everyone in your group!

Bavarian Icefest 2018 – January 13-14

Leavenworth is a town that celebrates winter with gusto. From their renowned Christmas Lighting Festival to an abundance of snow-centric activities (dog sledding, snowshoeing and ice climbing just to name a few) to even a local brewery named after an icicle, you’ll find no shortage of options for “wintertainment!” Join the town in celebrating all things frozen at their annual Bavarian Icefest, with a lineup that includes snow sculpture competitions, ice cube tower building, a snowmobile sled pull and live ice carving. We think even Jack Frost himself would approve!

Children’s Film Festival Seattle – January 25-February 10

Produced by the Northwest Film Forum, the Children’s Film Festival Seattle celebrates the best and brightest in international cinema for children. Each year, films from dozens of countries are selected and highlighted at this cinematic extravaganza, alongside live performances, animation tutorials and hands-on education workshops, all crafted with care for the next generation of movie lovers.
