Responsibilities include daily and monthly accounting functions, annual audit work, compliance reporting, general ledger oversight, cash management, revenue recognition, and the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial success of our growing organization while enjoying the perks of working in Victoria, B.C.Key Responsibilities:Take ownership of the Accounting department, including strategy, budget, staffing, setting and implementing standardsSupervise and mentor the Accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environmentProvide guidance, training, and performance feedback to the team to ensure their professional development and successResponsible for the accurate, timely creation, and dissemination of financial statements and related management reports for internal and external stakeholdersCoordinate and manage the annual external audit process, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findingsManage banking relationships, including cash management with multiple currenciesCommunicate effectively with colleagues at German headquarters and other group companies in European time zoneCollaborate with cross-functional teams, such as operations and human resources, to optimize processes and achieve organizational goalsOversee the activities of the department ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit card expense, employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing, petty cash, and corporate payroll tax complianceOversee accounts receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all A/R aging components including vendor billing, intercompany billing and cash applicationEnsure that the financial statements are reconciled, supported and properly reviewed monthlyUnderstand, analyze and apply technical accounting guidance to complex business transactions such as intercompany relationships and agreementsApprove wire and ACH paymentsResponsible for all local, state and federal government reporting requirements and monthly and quarterly tax filingsDevelop and implement effective financial controls, procedures, and accounting policies to maintain compliance and strengthen internal controlsLead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflowsStay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices, and implement necessary adjustmentsPartner with Director of Finance and IT to analyze monthly, quarterly and annual resultsQualifications and Skills:Experience in managing a teamExceptional attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentSolid US GAAP knowledge and strong technical accounting skills requiredStrong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and senior managementDemonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote qualityDemonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacityDemonstrated experience in project management with proven ability to lead multiple projects forward and effectively leverage available resources to drive resultsPC proficiency: Strong Microsoft suite skills, with exceptional skills in ExcelExcellent fluent English language skills (speaking, reading, writing)Education & Experience:CPA required, MBA or related Master’s degree preferredBA or BS in Accounting or Finance8+ years of progressive accounting experience2-4 years in financial leadership roleSAP or other large ERP system experience preferredExperience in the travel/hospitality industry helpful, but not requiredExperience with internal controls, SOX, or related experience helpful, but not requiredBenefits:Full-time, year-round employees are eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, outlined aboveJob Type:Full-time Monday-Friday.
